FCFC on Tour

What goes on Tour…

Bangkok 2019

A year of firsts – 40+ FCFC players – an FCFC vets Team + 2 11 aside teams – this was BIG. A 1-0 loss in the final broke hearts… minds and bodies were already gone a long time before…

Bangkok 2018

Close but no Champagne – Ed cleared the stadium with his woeful penalty in semifinal shootout.

Bangkok 2017

A low turnout this year and a no-show Stag saw blow up Davina drafted in to make up numbers. Luis Carlos will be remembered for his confectionery-filled evenings!

Bangkok 2016

Better remembered for elevator no-shows and B52s by the round, the less said about the football this year, the better.

Bangkok 2015

Naked most of time – drunk the rest – eventually made it to the tournament. Note to self: “Must not attempt to organize a stag do in Pattaya ever again…ever”

Bangkok 2014

A tournament that will live in infamy for its depravity, injuries and Benny Hillesque football performances. Nobody really remembers what position we came in at the end.

Bangkok 2013
With 2012 having whetted the appetite, 2013 saw us vowing to return and make this an annual trip. Read more about the fun to be had on this invitation from Tour organisers, German All Stars Bangkok

Bangkok 2012
After a few years absence, City management put a lot of focus on an away tour in 2012 and managed to recruit 19 players from City, including a few lost boys making the trip from Hong Kong for the Bangkok Far Easter Tournament in April 2012.  Half the team arrived early for some pre-tour training on the beaches of Koh Chang before the main event in Bangkok at the weekend.  Managing a respectable 5th in the overall standings, the eventual winners were in our group.  But more than football, friendships were cemented and fun was crazy.  We endeavour to return to this awesome tournament next year.

FCFC on Tour 2012

Bangkok 2007
A small group of us, namely Alex, Kenny, Tobias and Pikey, together with the Peking Strollers travelled to the Far Easter Bangkok 11 a-side tournament and had a great laugh, although some of our football was terrible (blame it on the combination of beer, sun and late nights!)

Sexy FC 10th Anniversary
The Forbidden City 5 a-side put in a team for the Sexy FC 10th Anniversary tournament in September, but our keeper switched teams after 5 minutes and everyone else was desperately hungover! The Sexy faithful would have been proud. The before and after party at Frank’s was definitely the highlight.

Shanghai Shooters 2006
The Shanghai Shooters Competition is becoming a regular event and once again a group of City players travelled down to Shanghai on tour over the weekend of August 27th, 2006. Beijing was well represented with friendly rivals Beijing Yosemite Strollers and Sexy FC also competing in the competition. We teamed up for a some great entertainment in the evenings in bars which definitely rival Beijing nightlife. Although the Strollers made a promising start on the first day of the competition we all ended up in pretty bad shape and playing some appalling football by Sunday afternoon!

Bangkok Far East 2006
The Bangkok Far East Tour was a popular trip for the Forbidden City in 2005. However because of other commitments and the May Holidays just one week later FCFC couldn’t get much support in 2006.Instead we called upon friends from Moscow, Seoul and other teams in Beijing to play for a representative ‘Bangkok Hodgepodge’ Team.

Mastercard Community Cup 2005
Forbidden City were invited by ODC Media to take part in the 2005 MasterCard Beijing Community Cup, organised by China Club Football. With the addition of a female player to our squad we qualified through the group stages and reached the quarter finals. Played at Beijing Gongti, you can read more about the event at Clubfootball.

Bangkok 23rd Far East 2005
A mixed bunch from a few teams in Beijing flew in to Bangkok for the 23rd Far East Football Tournament over the weekend March 26th 2005. Humidity, an assortment of players (average age around 36.6) and Bangkok’s nightlife meant over the two days we only managed 8th Place in the Cup Competition.

Shanghai Krouts 2005
In the summer 2005, we flew down to Shanghai again for another tournament at Tianma country club. This was a one day event hosted by Shanghai Krouts which left us more time to see the city. That being said, the night before we didn’t make it further than Judy’s bar, and with Shanghai’s humidity playing a part on our hangovers, we didn’t do too well in the tournament.

Shanghai Shooters Sevens 2004
Forbidden City Football Club were born in Summer 2004 with the idea as a touring side from a mix of clubs over Beijing. The Shanghai Sevens tour at the end August 2004 was a lot of fun and we rounded the weekend off by

WINNING THE PLATE !! This is now proudly displayed in the Tree Bar in Beijing. A sign of future City success?
